Experience and a sympathetic eye
Repairing and modernising churches, cathedrals and other religious buildings requires specialist skills, a wealth of experience and a sympathetic eye. Oakwood have been working continuously in this environment since 1963 and have delivered hundreds of high quality projects. The largest is the complete refurbishment of the roof and electrics of St. George’s Cathedral in Southwark. The smallest is joinery repairs for the parish church at Remenham in Oxfordshire.
We are experts in using all types of materials in both traditional and modern ways. We take extra care to match new materials with the existing, and can advise on the most appropriate way to modernise period buildings, making sure to adhere to listed building regulations where they apply.
We’re experienced in insulation, unobtrusive heating, lighting, hidden electrical cable runs, roofs, joinery, stonemasonry, stained glass – in fact anything and everything you need to maintain and improve a religious building. No project is too small or too big.
